CLOSETS CLOSETS CLOSETS

Ok - I am going to discuss the organization of my children's closets - this will be done in a couple of segments and I will do my best to get pics up. Today I have no pics - I will get them taken this weekend.

I am going to cover a few things in this post and then we will get to the meat of it later when I get my pics up.

1. Most of the kid's closets have the same basic foundation for organization - I do have some features customized to the personalities of each of them and their age.
Okay - did I just lose you when I said I organize their closets based on personality and age - Give it a chance - let that marinade in your brain for a moment - stay with me and I will soon draw you into my madness :)

2. Kids are throwers not filers - meaning: If you put in a shoe rack then please be prepared to put their shoes on the rack for them - Kids do not do this instinctively - kids throw things - put in bins or baskets so they can toss their shoes in them and save yourself some time. Note - at about the age of 15 shoe racks can be used properly.

3. Label every bin or basket with what you want in it - Even if your child is too young to read - put a picture of what goes in there along with name and by golly you have brought together education and organization. Also labeling will help the little ones to put up their own laundry.

4. I hate DRESSERS in my kids room - Although Autumn does have one - I do not like it - she has because it came with her bedroom set. My reasoning for this hate is because KIDS ARE NOT FILERS - They are THROWERS - so you end up with overflowing drawers and wrinkly clothes. So I tend to hang everything except undies, socks and pajamas.

YES I HANG EVERYTHING - Get over it - it is well worth the time. I have my reasons and I will share them with you .... later

that is all for now - I will be back with pics and insanity

peace out

Conversations with a 3 year old boy

When: Mid August 2000
Who: Chandler - 3 years old (he is now 11 almost 12)
Who: Me - 35 weeks pregnant with Autumn
Where: Shower - just the boy and my big pregnant belly

I was very pregnant with Autumn - in fact she was born about 3 days after this event occured. Chandler was in the shower with me and this is what transpired:

Chandler: (rubbing my big pregnant belly with soap) You belly looks be like a big basketball ( I am typing it exactly how he said it)

Me: Yep - that is your baby sister and she is growing big

(keep in mind the top of his head reaches just under my belly)

Chandler: Moving his head sideways and looking under my belly at my lady parts Mommy!!! pointing at my lady parts "THAT LOOK BE LIKE A LION"

Needless to say that was the last time we took a shower together :)
