Time is running out...

Last week The Boy got his drivers license, yesterday I finally let him drive to school alone. I nearly had a panic attack as I drove to work thinking about him driving alone to school.
(Go here to catch up on the drivers ED journey Drivers ED)

He did fine yesterday and he so far has done fine today. School is a whole 2 miles from our house.

I just can not believe he is already driving. Time has went by so fast. It started me thinking that I was just about a year older than him when I married his father and 2 years after that he was born. I have spent my entire adult life hood being a mother. I am alot of other things but nothing measures up more than being a mom.

I often wonder what the future holds for The Boy. What will he ultimately choose to do and who will he marry and will he have children. Then that leads me to thinking about what are some of the things that I have never done but always wanted to.

One of the first things that popped into my head was Roller Derby. What?? Did you think it was going to be something like a Mission trip to a 3rd world country or to rescue whales. Pisshh - Hell no - it's Roller Derby.

I seriously thought about it in 2009 but then got pregnant with The Baby and then had the Baby and then nursed The Baby and then got into shape and then had surgery. Now I am ready. I am ready to be a Roller Derby Diva.

I took the first step and emailed the recruiting department for AC Derby Dallas (acderby). I think their season has already started so I might have to wait till it opens up again or maybe they have backup derby divas. Either way I am doing this or at least I will try. I can skate and skate pretty good. I might have to take a couple shots of tequila to work up the courage but I gotta at least give it a shot.

Of course Big Daddy is supportive of this decision. He has supported every one of my crazy ideas. He also thinks that the first time I get hit, I am gonna cry. He affectionately has given me the nickname of "Cry Baby Campbell". I might actually cry but that won't stop me.

I have more things on my "Bucket List" that I would like to do but I am gonna tackle this Roller Derby thing and see how I hold up.

What's on your bucket list?

Weird thing. Two of you (TWO!) on my blog reading list are currently planning to be roller derby girls. Which is KICK ASS. We should've had a blogger derby team where the blog ladies go out and show everyone who's boss. :)

THIS ROCKS. I Love that this is on your bucket list. It takes serious balls (of which I have a limited supply) so I stand in admiration.

I...want to learn how to swim. Forrealz. I have been trying to learn since I was 4. No luck. Ten years of lessons at the Y, private instruction and there was this one time on vacay with my husband when I threatened to leave him if he didn't stop dunking my head under water. But, I still don't know how to swim.

I, too, would love to be a Derby Girl, but because of the heart of the over 80 year old I lug around in my only 56 year old body, have to satisfy myself with making up Derby names. Hutch the Horrible? Dear Sweet Mama Your Ass? Mary Malicious? Contrary Mary? How about you?
